I read the blurbs and was quite intrigued. The author weaves several storytelling devices into a captivating story line. I ordered it on the strength of the samples, and look forward to enjoying it at length.That was my original review when I ordered the book. I w as not disappointed.
I found the book to be very detailed and thorough in plot development. At first I felt it dragged, but when I adjusted myself to a slower pace, I began to enjoy absorbing the detail that went into each character and plot point. As it went along I felt swept into a dimension similar to when I read Harry Potter or the Lord of the Rings series, yet somewhat deeper.
This book will wrap itself around your head and take you for a dizzying ride into a world you've never imagined. Buy it. Read it.. Live it.

This is fantastic. The imagery is amazing the work in itself is just stunning. There's several martial arts Mythic and otherwise just awesome elements in this period if you like Dante's work you'll love this
This poem is among poems as great as Dante's Inferno, Edgar Allan Poe's The Raven, and other dark poems. Mr. Douglas Laurent is a master craftsman well versed in the art of literature. Painting the darkness of the underworld with haunting characters. He's brought life to the dead, which in turn bring with them death. This poem's hidden character is you, may you see the light in the darkness.

Congratulations to the author! Better than "well done". I received this book as a gift from a good friend and expected a typical pulp fiction novel. Boy was I wrong! Laurent has written a tale so large and yet so detailed that it's amazing. The characters are captivating and so in depth. The imagery brings it to life in your mind. The story is filled with unexpected twists and turns that keep this a "page turner". It truly is an epic saga of good and evil, light and darkness, love and hate that grabs your attention from the first page and doesn't let go. And by weaving the reader into the story, Laurent has taken us to a new level of reading experience. I can't thank my friend enough for the 'great read' that he gave me, and I plan on gifting it to all my friends. I give Laurent a standing ovation for this new "classic" that he's written. Can't wait to read his next creation.
The world has witnesses the visual intensities of “The Lord of the Rings” by J.R.R. Tolkien and the “The Chronicles of Narnia” by C. S. Lewis. “Valley of the Damned” is well able to run with this pack and go the distance as it is not only a prose-style sweeping action-adventure novel, but it is an epic novel that is set entirely to visual cinematic rhyme, making for far more intense, compressed meanings to the story that ordinary prose can not ordinarily capture. The ghostly characters are superb, from the poetically askewed teenage Valkyrie Blade-Saint Kari to Angel-Heart, sword-duelist par excellence to the fiendish driving bounty-hunting revenant Dark Storm, their lives of strength, bravery, dread and horror unfolding as the story unfolds as they quest for the soul of Mark Theman, the deceitful, contemptible egotistical Karate movie superstar. One of the most interesting chapters was with Cherval, Warrior-Empress, she giving a resonating, riveting, glistening cameo of the warrior ways in “Valley.” In this epic, several classical Underworlds collide, the story taking place in our minds, we readers being one of the main characters.
Rich martial art, historic and mythic reflections from many global cultures in footnote form punctuate the work and for those who want to take a look at their own inner core and the unseen spiritual dynamics that are about, this work is well worth the journey. Like a maze with many paths to explore, this Valhallan tale, “Valley,” covers a gamut of rare information interested readers will not ordinarily find, so unique is the work.
