Orderly. Efficient. Controlled.

That’s how Blakely Bishop likes her life and the people in it. The instability of her past has ingrained in her the hard lessons of a life lived in chaos. She refuses to experience that again, and if the cost of her safety is an occasional bout of loneliness, she’ll happily pay that price.

And then he enters her world.

Cody Sommers, a young, brash Navy SEAL lives for the edge and embraces the messiness of life wholeheartedly. One look at prim and proper Blakely, and Cody knows that if she loosened the reins, the results would be explosive. Blakely’s tough, but Cody’s never met a challenge he didn’t like, and he won’t be dissuaded, not even when she does her best to push him away.

I am a big fan of Kaye Blue; however, I have been a little disappointed in her. She sloppily tied up loose ends in her previous series and there were gaping plot holes in this book. I thought the original premise was good vut tye execution was poor. Certain elements of the book didn't flow for me. Like how Cody didn't mentally mention Mayaree's smell when he met her but Blake laments how everyone can detect her mothers stench....or how she did all these peotective measures when visiting her folks and disposing her clothes afterwards. Yet later on after they have to negotiate with her father and make a trip to the hospital, she did not dispose of her clothes or Codys. In the book it seemed she could turn her OCD off and on. I like consistency within a plot. Here there was none. Hoping next book is better

Nice easy read. Enjoyed the book
Enjoyed this book because the man fell in love with what was inside the woman then loved everything about her.
Can’t wait for the last book
This is the second book in this series and I'm starting to feel like the running theme of each story is the same. How the great Navy seal saved the dysfunctional girl, without addressing any of the serious issues involved.
Looooovvvved this book. Ms. Rowan you did not disappoint! This second installment was different and more then I expected. The reveal behind Blakely's strange behavior left me feeling so heart broken for her. I am so impressed that the author thought to created this beautiful, flawed, unique, courageous heroine. AWESOME READ!!!
Tough subject matter to handle. It was approached from the most delicate manner possible. As dealing with a parent's illness or life choices are very impractical. Having to decide how those choices will shape you is even more telling. You have Blakely who is serious, and cares a weight that will take someone as strong and compassionate as Cody to break through. Cody having to see through the layers of Blakely is exactly what brings this story home. You come to appreciate Cody being able to be there for Blakely. Especially after encountering her parents.
I adored the first book in this series, but found myself fairly disappointed with the second book. It was the same author, right? I struggled with the characters and their emotions with this one, and the plot -- well I’m not sure there was one. Blakely was so uptight that I couldn’t warm up to her as a character, even when she “melted.” And while Cody could’ve been a great character, he was lost in the chaos that was Blakely. I felt very disconnected from their stories and their emotional state, which is unusual considering I enjoyed the first one. There were just a lot of little things that didn’t really work in this book that added up to a not-so-great sequel. However, I’m going to read the third one and hope for redemption because the author is wonderfully talented, as proven by the first one.
